The reasons and circumstances for repealing the 3rd Lithuanian Statute in Belarus and Lithuania
have not yet been explained convincingly. The article is devoted to the presentation of the views
expressed in previous literature and their confrontation with the position of Russian politicians
participating in the introduction of Russian law to replace the Statute.
