Pozycja Caregiver burden in relatives of patients with schizophrenia – reality and methods of support(Oficyna Wydawnicza AFM, 2020) Fusińska-Korpik, AgnieszkaSchizophrenia is a chronic disease that affects about 1% of the population. Scientific interest in the families of sick people has been rooted in the search for systemic factors affecting the onset, course and prognosis of the illness. Today, more and more attention is being paid to the role of the family as a source of support in the treatment process, and family cohesion is considered a positive prognostic factor. A person with schizophrenia often needs accompanying in the recovery process, therefore the patient’s relatives can be a source of instrumental and socio-emotional support, oft en providing motivation for treatment and rehabilitation. Still, in the public health system the opportunities to support the patient’s family are relatively small and limited to single initiatives. At the same time, research results and clinical experiences suggest that caregivers often feel overwhelmed by daily duties, feel a lack of reliable knowledge, and it is difficult for them to adjust themselves to their new role. This chapter provides scientific reflection on the consequences of caring for a person with schizophrenia. The state of the study and the possibilities of holistic support for the patient and his family system are analyzed.Pozycja Family - Health - Disease(Oficyna Wydawnicza AFM, 2016) Bramušková, Jarmila; Balogová, Eva; Spodniaková, Miroslava; Gerlichová, Katarina; Matišáková, Iveta; Zichová, Miroslava; Goździalska, Anna; Shvediuk, Tetiana; Karasiewicz, Adrian; Kowalewska, Marta; Kadučáková, Helena; Jaśkiewicz, Jerzy; Jaśkiewicz, Jerzy; Dębska, Grażyna; Ławska, Wioletta; Kudlová, Pavla; Kutnohorská, Jana; Tomaszewska, Katarzyna; Lemańska, Dorota; Vanková, Beáta; Milaniak, Irena; Raková, Jana; Hudáková, Paulína; Valentová, Katarina; Šupínová, Mária; Gurín, Daniel; Bramušková, Jarmila; Miksaiová, Anna; Verešová, Jarmila; Krátká, Anna; Dębska, Grażyna; Jaśkiewicz, JerzyThis publication includes opinion and research papers written by authors with academic backgrounds from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. The monograph consists of 14 chapters and the order of them refers to the relationship between the family and the health of its members. The first seven texts concern children’s health problems. The next two concern widely defined issues of nutrition and adult nursing. The next four discuss health issues of the elderly, while the last describes the dilemma of bereaved family members who have to decide about organ donation. The individual chapters show different aspects of family participation in the treatment and care of children, the elderly, the chronically ill, and the disabled. The discussed topics are a part of the wider issue of social medicine. A very important issue is the interdisciplinary problem of interaction between health and illness and their influence on the family, which is on one hand embedded in medical science, while on the other hand it refers to the social sciences, especially family sociology, psychology, pedagogy, and also social policy to some extent. The authors of the monograph also discuss the issue of life quality of the elderly living in domestic environments and the health and social problems they face. The authors also analyse the role of nurses in promoting health, such as immunisation, rational nutrition, and ethical aspects such as the screening of newborns. This monograph is addressed to all who work or want to work with families and support them in the difficult challenges posed by disease. The authors hope the monograph will increase understanding and familiarity with the health problems of relatives.Pozycja Family - Health - Disease(Oficyna Wydawnicza AFM, 2020) Gołkowski, Filip; Kalemba-Drożdż, Małgorzata; Fusińska-Korpik, Agnieszka; Skorupska-Król, Agnieszka; Kurleto, Paulina; Dębska, Grażyna; Pawłowski, Leszek; Bil, Jakub; Bajcarczyk, Renata; Florek, Renata; Kozieł, Dorota; Witkoś, Joanna; Grzywacz-Kisielewska, Agata; Kin-Dąbrowska, JoannaPreface: "The family is the basic social cell and a person’s closest environment; it plays the dominant non-medical role in shaping health as it is the primary source of knowledge about nutrition, life-style and disease prevention. The family may determine both healthy habits and anti-health behaviors; it influences the entire duration of a person’s life. It is important to emphasize the extremely significant role of the family in providing care, supporting treatment processes, and giving company to an ill family member."(...)Pozycja Wpływ nasilenia depresji u pacjentów z chorobą Huntingtona na obciążenie psychiczne opiekuna(Oficyna Wydawnicza AFM, 2015) Boćwińska, Dorota; Goździalska, AnnaWprowadzenie: Na całym świecie tysiące ludzi opiekuje się bliskimi z chorobą Huntingtona próbując sobie radzić z opieką nad chorym, która może być bardzo trudna, wyczerpująca i stresująca. Pacjenci bowiem mają problemy natury fizycznej, emocjonalnej i poznawczej. Materiał i metody: Badania przeprowadzono w Krakowskiej Akademii Neurologii. Grupę badaną stanowiło 68 pacjentów z objawami choroby Huntingtona wraz z opiekunem. Badania były przeprowadzane w latach 2007−2011. Do pomiaru depresji zastosowano skalę Hamiltona, zaawansowanie choroby określono za pomocą skali zdolności funkcjonowania (TFC – Total Functional Capacity). Oceny obciążenia opiekuna dokonano za pomocą kwestionariusza opiekuna–osoby towarzyszącej. Wyniki i wnioski: Stwierdzono, że niepełnosprawność funkcjonalna pacjenta koreluje z obciążeniem opiekuna. Istnieje również zależność pomiędzy nasileniem depresji a obciążeniem opiekuna. Największy wpływ na obciążenie opiekuna mają: spowolnienie i zahamowanie, niepokój i podniecenie ruchowe, natręctwa i fobie, wahania dobowe samopoczucia oraz nastrój depresyjny pacjenta.
