Pozycja A Polygraph-Assisted Psychological Assessment of Risk of Sexual Harm Posed by a Priest(Oficyna Wydawnicza AFM, 2019) Wilcox, Daniel T."This paper provides a case example of how the polygraph can assist in achieving enhanced levels of disclosure when assessing a priest in relation to reported concerns about sexual risk. In the present case, the polygraph is used in combination with other tools employed to produce a comprehensive forensic psychological evaluation of a cleric for safeguarding purposes ( Jack and Wilcox, 2018). Th e author considers that the case study is a helpful medium for describing the utility of the polygraph as an adjunctive tool in risk assessments (Wilcox and Buschman, 2011; Wilcox, Foss, and Donathy, 2005; Wilcox, O’Keefe, and Oliver, 2009)."(...)Pozycja A Survey of the Views of Catholic Safeguarding Coordinators about the Inclusion of the Polygraph in Psychological Risk Assessments of Clerics(Oficyna Wydawnicza AFM, 2022) Wilcox, Daniel T.; Berry, Rosalind; Grove, EmmaThis paper reflects the views of Catholic safeguarding coordinators (SCs) with regard to the inclusion of the polygraph in forensic psychological risk assessments that they have commissioned. The contents are derived from feedback forms sought of these instructing parties, relating to fifteen priests referred for assessment by SCs from eight different Catholic dioceses in England. The SCs responded to a post-assessment survey including a range of questions concerning their perceptions of the utility of independent, secularly organised, forensic psychological risk assessments undertaken during the period from January 2019 to December 2021. Feedback was obtained in relation to twelve of the clerics, with two SCs having left their positions during the period and as such, not avail able to provide feedback, and one SC not responding to the feedback request. Replies were received from SCs representing seven of the twenty-two Catholic dioceses in England. The overall survey results reflected that a significant majority of respondents positively connoted the value of independent secularly organised forensic psychological risk assessments. However, their expressed views about the polygraph in this context were more varied, thus prompting the authors to produce this separate paper.Pozycja Case Studies Using the Polygraph to Assist in Assessing Sexual Risk in Three Clerics(Oficyna Wydawnicza AFM, 2020) Wilcox, Daniel T.; Jack, Alexander; Donathy, Marguerite L.; Berry, Rosalind M."A psychological assessment is commonly used in a range of clinical, occupational and forensic settings. Increasingly, religious organisations have recognised the value of secular, independent assessments for both novices and experienced clerics, which can address areas relevant to emotional wellbeing, vocational aptitude, and possible social risk ( Jack & Wilcox, 2018). Notably, when addressing risk concerns, there is oft en a paucity of documentation in cleric assessments compared to that accessible in traditional forensic settings (e.g. probation, family courts, prisons). As such, it can be helpful to augment standard interview and psychometric practices with additional tools to try to achieve a more informed risk assessment, particularly when allegations of harm remain unresolved. In some such cases, the polygraph is utilised as part of that assessment process." Considering this, a study of the change in the quality of the signal from the photoplethysmograph in subjects who have used nail polish is extremely relevant and requires a comprehensive qualitative study. Th e paper uses general scientifi c and empirical methods of observation and experimentation, and is a comprehensive study of the eff ects of nail polish on the quality of the photoplethysmograph signal. It is the fi rst time that this type of research has been conducted using a comparative analysis of subjects who did and did not use nail polish.Pozycja Essentials of the Relevant Issue Gravity (RIG) Strength: A Theoretical Framework for Understanding the Comparison Question Test (CQT)(Oficyna Wydawnicza AFM, 2019) Ginton, AvitalThe essentials of the Relevant Issue Gravity (RIG) theoretical framework for explaining the Comparison Question Test (CQT) (Ginton, 2009), is presented here in a detailed outline format. It is based on the notion that examinees who lie on the test in the relevant questions are attached psychologically to the relevant issue in a diff erent way than the truth-tellers. An essential diff erence is the strength by which the suspect’s attention is directed, focused, and bound to the relevant issue. Th ese aspects of attention in the context of polygraph examinations are coined, Relevant Issue Gravity (RIG) Strength. Th e RIG strength is assumed to distribute diff erently between the liars and the truth-tellers. Th ere is reason to believe that liars hold a stronger RIG compared to the truthful subjects, and eventually, that affects the differential reactivity to the relevant vs. comparison questions. Th e following describes the rationale behind the RIG concept, some supporting data, and the theoretical as well as practical implications.Pozycja European Polygraph 2020, Volume 14, Number 2 (52)(Oficyna Wydawnicza AFM, 2020) Krapohl, Donald J.; Wilcox, Daniel T.; Jack, Alexander; Donathy, Marguerite L.; Shuster, Jonathan J.; Handler, Mark; Batyrov, Tamerlan Stanislavovich; Collins, Nikki; Widacki, JanPozycja European Polygraph 2022, Volume 16, Number 1 (55)(Oficyna Wydawnicza AFM, 2022) Horvath, Frank; Peters, Robert; Gołaszewski, Marcin; Wilcox, Daniel T.; Berry, Rosalind; Grove, Emma; Pérez-Campos Mayoral, Eduardo; Fisher, Ronald; Langer, Arre Anne; Pérez-Campos, Eduardo Lorenzo; Pérez-Campos Mayoral, Laura; Hernandez-Huerta, María Teresa; Matias-Cervantes, Carlos AlbertoPozycja European Polygraph no. 2 (36), 2016(Oficyna Wydawnicza AFM, 2016) Aleskovskiy, Sergey; Shurany, Tuvia; Tarabuła, Marcin; Widacki, Michał; Szuba-Boroń, Anna; Gołaszewski, Marcin; Widacki, Jan; Widacki, JanPozycja European Polygraph no. 3 (41), 2017(Oficyna Wydawnicza AFM, 2017) Kormoš, Milan; Amsel, Tuvya T.; Leśniak, Marek; Widacki, JanPozycja European Polygraph nr 1 (43), 2018(Oficyna Wydawnicza AFM, 2018) Anastasova, Karina; Gordon, Nathan J.; Mohamed, Feroze B.; Platek, Steven M.; Ahmad, Harris; Williams, Michael; Faro, Scott H.; Amsel, Tuvya T.; Widacki, JanPozycja European Polygraph nr 2 (28), 2014(Oficyna Wydawnicza AFM, 2014) Widacki, Jan; Gołaszewski, Marcin; Saldžiūnas, Vitas; Kovalenko, Aleksandras; Krapohl, Donald J.; Widacki, JanPozycja European Polygraph nr 2 (44), 2018(Oficyna Wydawnicza AFM, 2018) Amsel, Tuvya T.; Shurany, Tuvia; Gordon, Nathan J.; Widacki, Jan; Widacki, JanPozycja European Polygraph nr 2 (48), 2019(Oficyna Wydawnicza AFM, 2019) Horvath, Frank; Wilcox, Daniel T.; Amsel, Tuvya T.Pozycja In my opinion...(Oficyna Wydawnicza AFM, 2020) Barland, Gordon"The widespread expansion of polygraph for screening job applicants, especially by police and intelligence organizations."(...)Pozycja In my view...(Oficyna Wydawnicza AFM, 2020) Fleisher, Bill"In my view, the greatest advances in the polygraph profession in the last 100 years, outside of instrumentation, have been in three areas. Sometimes expecting women themselves insist on being examined, for example, when they apply for a job, want to be enrolled in uniformed services, or try to acquire exculpatory evidence in a criminal procedure. Can a pregnant woman be subjected to a polygraph examination? Every such procedure requires informed consent of the examinee, pregnant women included. No other questions related to this highly special group of examinees are defined by law"(...)Pozycja Polygraph Examinations in the Department of Special Psychology of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic – a Retrospective View(Oficyna Wydawnicza AFM, 2017) Kormoš, Milan
