Pozycja Bronisław Malinowski jako prekursor antropologii bezpieczeństwa(Oficyna Wydawnicza AFM, 2023) Jarmoszko, StanisławThe aim of the article was to show the contribution of the achievements of Bronisław Malinowski, an outstanding Polish anthropologist of world fame, to the development of security anthropology – a new subdiscipline emerging in our times. Using a critical analysis of literature, qualitative content analysis and elements of comparative analysis, the research was focused on solving the problem: Does Bronisław Malinowski’s achievements allow him to be considered a precursor of the anthropology of security? Virtually every major work by Malinowski (even from a hundred years ago) contains references to security problems. We see this when he wrote about birth, family, work, sailing, warfare, customs, law, death, etc. He is a precursor of the concept of human security, launched by the UN (only) in 1994, a promising platform for the development of scientific reflection on human security. Dealing with people, Malinowski cared and strived for the survival of culture. To this end, he took actions to combat the war. In the perspective adopted by Malinowski, security was the basis, ‘rock’ and content of the existence and development of man and culture. The entirety of his scientific achievements allows us to formulate a positive answer to the research question.
