Czasopismo Wydziału Lekarskiego i Nauk o Zdrowiu Krakowskiej Akademii im. Andrzeja Frycza Modrzewskiego. Tematyka periodyku obejmuje zakres szeroko pojętych nauk medycznych i zdrowia publicznego. Półrocznik wydawany jest w języku angielskim, wersją pierwotną jest forma elektroniczna z możliwością przygotowania okazjonalnych wydań specjalnych również w wersji papierowej. Artykuły publikowane są w wolnym dostępie (open access). Nadsyłane manuskrypty poddawane są procesowi recenzji opartemu zgodnie z obowiązującą procedurą na zasadzie double-blind review proces. Radę naukową czasopisma tworzą uznani naukowcy i wysokiej klasy specjaliści krajowi i zagraniczni, co przekłada się na utrzymanie światowych standardów publikacji naukowej oraz międzynarodowy zasięg. Introduction: "It is with great pleasure that I invite readers to browse through the first issue of our journal “Medicine and Public Health”. It is not surprising that as the articles in this issue were submitted not long after the most intense period of the pandemic, we notice a significant number of articles dealing with different aspects of the COVID pandemic. It heavily influenced virtually all aspects of healthcare, hence articles about its impact on areas such as cancer screening and emergency surgery are included. There are also several interesting case reports ranging from an atypical presentation of gallbladder cancer, an atypical Amyand hernia, to the rare congenital malformation situs inversus. In addition, the reader will have the opportunity to consider the difficulties that accompany the differential diagnosis of a kidney mass and iliac crest mass in the section concerning images in clinical medicine. All in all, I sincerely believe that the mix of articles prepared for this issue will meet the high expectations of our readership. And if this is so, I can assure you that we are already working on the next, and hopefully even more interesting issue of our journal."(...)

Introduction: "In the second issue of “Medicine and Public Health” readers have the opportunity to enjoy eight interesting articles. It is important to notice that our journal is drawing the attention of international authors, and hopefully readers as well. This authors of this issue come from four different countries. The authors from Italy share with us an interesting and splendidly illustrated case of a rare internal hernia, the authors from India describe a rare form of liver tumour, while those from Slovakia describe the context of a preventive gynaecological examination. The Polish authors also share with us several interesting aspects of contemporary medicine. Wąsik et al. review the emerging role of ICG technique in surgery, and Szweda et al. deal with urethral profilometry. Interesting case reports by Kolendo (a rare complication of arthrosocopy) and Józefiak (a rare appendiceal tumour), as well as my own commentary on the current status of lymphadenectomy for gastric cancer, complete this issue. Introduction: "We are delighted to present the third issue of the “Medicine and Public Health Journal”. This issue brings together six diverse articles that provide valuable perspectives on health, ethics and the ways in which humans adapt to medical and environmental challenges. An original research article by Teleglow et al. delves into the fascinating world of winter swimmers, individuals who regularly immerse themselves in icy waters. The study examines how such extreme environmental exposure affects leukocyte apoptosis, shedding light on the adaptability and resilience of the human immune system. This issue features two insightful review articles that address critical matters in public health and clinical practice. Prof Jan Hartman explores philosophical frameworks for redistribution of health care, contrasting entitlement-based approaches with solidarity-based models. Meanwhile, Stopyra’ et al. highlight the complexity of diagnosing CMV infection. Using two illustrative case studies, the article highlights the broad spectrum of symptoms and the importance of a thorough differential diagnosis in infants with multi systemic presentations. The case reports in this issue offer interesting perspectives on rare and challenging clinical scenarios. Milaniak et al. raise the issue of the cardiovascular risks of anorexia nervosa and the critical role of echocardiography in monitoring adolescent patients. Stachura et al. present the remarkable story of a pregnant patient undergoing awake neurosurgery, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary care. Finally, Bogaczyk et al. explore the diagnosis of a congenital tumour identified postnatally, highlighting the value of neonatal screening and the complexity of managing such rare cases. Taken together, these case reports highlight the value of innovative and patient-centred approaches to the management of rare but important conditions. We hope that you find the articles in this issue thought-provoking and informative, and that they stimulate both clinical and academic discussion.
