Do najbardziej tragicznego w historii zaostrzenia konfliktu doszło po 7 października 2023 r., kiedy to palestyńscy terroryści z ugrupowania Hamas zaatakowali z lądu, powietrza i morza zamieszkałe tereny Izraela w pobliżu Strefy Gazy. Ten atak terrorystyczny zakończył się śmiercią ponad 1,2 tys. obywateli żydowskich oraz porwaniem ok. 250 osób. Izrael w kilka dni później przystąpił do lądowej operacji w Strefie Gazy, aby ostatecznie rozprawić się z Hamasem. Jednak w wyniku izraelskiej odpowiedzi militarnej dotychczas zginęło lub zostało rannych kilkadziesiąt tysięcy palestyńskich cywilów i doszło do poważnego kryzysu humanitarnego, co budzi wiele wątpliwości w kontekście przestrzegania przez Izrael prawa konfliktów zbrojnych. Celem artykułu jest próba diagnozy przyczyn tego konfliktu, którego społeczność międzynarodowa nie jest wstanie skutecznie rozwiązać od dziesięcioleci.

The Jewish-Palestinian conflict has been ongoing since 1948, increasing in intensity from time to time and leading to new victims. The most tragic intensification of the conflict in its history occurred after October 7, 2023, when Palestinian terrorists from the Hamas group attacked the inhabited areas of Israel near the Gaza Strip from land, air and sea. This terrorist attack resulted in the death of over 1.2 thousand Jewish citizens and the kidnapping of approximately 250 people. A few days later, Israel launched a land operation in the Gaza Strip to finally deal with Hamas. However, as a result of the Israeli military response, several tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians have been killed or injured so far and a serious humanitarian crisis has occurred, which raises many doubts in the context of Israel’s compliance with the law of armed conflict. The aim of the article is to attempt to diagnose the causes of this conflict, which the international community has not been able to effectively resolve for decades.
